Principal Transportation Planner

The Port Authority of NY & NJ invites applications for a Principal Transportation Planner to lead the multi-agency regional Goods Movement Action Program (G-MAP), and provide policy and planning analysis in support of passenger and general transportation projects for the agency's Planning & Regional Development Department.

The Department's Regional Transportation Policy & Planning Division is responsible for ensuring effective leadership and involvement in regional freight transportation policies and initiatives that advance the agency's strategic vision for regional mobility and sustainable development. While the focus of this position will be on regional freight issues, the successful candidate will provide policy and planning analysis in support of passenger and general transportation projects for the Planning & Regional Development Department, as well. The Planning & Regional Development Department's work program spans regional roadway and transit system issues, evaluation of transportation/land-use linkages for selected projects, and analysis of transportation legislative and regulatory initiatives.

Under the supervision of the Regional Transportation Planning Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing the Goods Movement Action Program (G-MAP), an innovative partnership among the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, state departments of transportation, local governments, and private industry that addresses the New York-New Jersey metropolitan region's pressing freight challenges.
