Assistant Director, Housing & Neighborhoods
MTC has a position open for an Assistant Director, Housing & Neighborhoods. This position has a closing date of Sun. Aug 13th at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

The person in this position will be under the general supervision of the Director of the Integrated Regional Planning Program, serving the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). The person in this position will manage the Housing & Neighborhoods Unit.

The Assistant Director for Housing & Neighborhoods position requires an individual with creativity and vision who can successfully direct daily operations and develop and introduce new and/or improved programs, initiatives and procedures to inform and deliver the Program's strategic plan and objectives.

The person in this position will have:

Completed a Master's degree in a relevant major from an accredited college or university. Alternately, a Bachelor's degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

They will have excellent project and team management skills with a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience effectively leading and managing a team with an aptitude to providing a local and regional perspective. Experience in the development of public policy and funding strategies, and the metropolitan planning process. Experience should also include three (3) years supervising, mentoring, and coaching professional and support staff.

Knowledge of:

• Federal and state metropolitan planning requirements for transportation planning and funding, fair housing, Title VI and social equity as well as state statutory requirements related to housing, planning, greenhouse gas reductions and the environment including SB 375 and the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA).

• Local land use authority and related policies and challenges related to housing production and affordability, transit-oriented development and jobs-housing connectivity in California.

• The distribution of regional, state and federal transportation funds and the use of federal grants for transportation including leveraging of funding for housing and focused growth-related outcomes.

• Relationship and organizational distinctions among federal, state, regional and local jurisdictions and non-governmental organizations at work in the Bay Area.
