Closing Date: August 20, 2017 at 11:59 PM
Salary: $39,312 - $72,744 annually
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
Location: Olympia, WA
Recruitment #: 17DOT-HQ-00165e

The Opportunity: Every disaster whether natural or man-made has the potential to adversely affect the roads, rail, marine and air travel throughout Washington State. For that reason, transportation is possibly the most critical infrastructure in Washington. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has a robust response capability through the operation of 9 Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) statewide. Additionally, many other state agencies lean heavily on WSDOT during emergencies.

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is seeking an expert in operations and logistics with a mastery of Emergency Management concepts and application during emergency response. The incumbent to this position will provide strategic leadership and oversight in the development of an agency-wide approach to emergency management operations and logistics. The incumbent must be operationally minded, with the skills and ability to maintain equipment and develop procedures so that WSDOT EOCs are fully functional at all times. This includes monitoring the physical structure and equipment, subject-matter-expertise in emergency communications infrastructure, and collaboratively ensuring that EOC staff are trained, equipped, and ready to respond. This position is also responsible for leading a team of volunteers that respond to incidents in our WSDOT facilities.

The ideal candidate will be the person that wants to make a difference, someone who has been successful at remaining calm and can make critical decisions under stressful emergency conditions. Emergency management and response must be your passion and career path that you have selected. This position requires someone to make quick, decisive, independent judgment calls and clearly communicate with a wide range of audiences regardless of the situation. If you feel this is you, apply today! .
