WSDOT is seeking a motivated engineer with strong technical and engineering skills to fill the position of Office Engineer for our Tacoma Project Office located in Fife. As an Office Engineer, you will be responsible for the contract administration for all assigned construction projects. The Office Engineer will independently supervise, mentor, and train staff responsible for performing contract payment, materials documentation, change orders, and project controls. Communication is paramount, as this position will regularly communicate with key members within WSDOT as well as local agencies, contractors and others.
This position will perform the following work:
•Oversee contract administration and compliance requirements.
•Interpret contract plans and provisions, manuals, and standard specifications.
•Prioritize, organize, and follow through with managing changes and deadlines on multiple contracts concurrently.
•Assess status of numerous contracts, monitor funding and forecast project expenditures, resolve outstanding issues, and address on-going developments.
•Prepare and review change orders and supporting documentation; negotiate with contractor customers.
•Prepare and review project correspondence and reports.
•Review and coordinate processing of documentation related to contract closure, such as final records and as-builts.
•Present both in oral and written form with the ability to translate technical information to diverse audiences; communicate with team and all stakeholders.
•Oversee project submittal review and tracking, including construction materials sampling, testing and documentation.
•Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.
•Other duties as assigned.
