Assistant Area Traffic Engineer-Signal Operations
The Northwest Region (NWR) Traffic Office is excited to announce that we are recruiting for an Assistant Area Traffic Engineer – Signal Operations out of our office in Seattle, WA. This position will perform the following work:
•Oversees and directs Signal Operation team to ensure proper use of funds, staff, equipment and resources.
•Develops and establishes regional wide traffic policies by participating on policy committees and guidance teams.
•Acts as public spokesperson for WSDOT on issues involving traffic signals.
•Provides technical expertise in traffic signal operations as well as offers input into lawsuits resulting from collisions at state owned signaled intersections.
•Interpret and implement federal and state policies, rules and regulation related to Signal Operations.
•Identifies opportunities for equipment and design enhancement and advocates for implementation.
•Other duties as assigned.
Competitive candidates will possess the following:
•Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering or closely related field
•Licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer (PE).
•Significant experience managing/leading traffic engineering, traffic operations, and traffic design involving all modes of travel.
•Minimum 5 years practical traffic design/engineering and operations experience; including 2 year of traffic signal operation experience.
•Expert-level knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices and policies in the areas of transportation planning, traffic engineering design and safety management.
•Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Valid Driver's License
