Airport Program Chief

The Division of Transportation Investment Management, Bureau of Aeronautics is seeking applicants for an Airport Program Section Chief. WisDOT is a great place to work! For more information on WisDOT you can visit our website by clicking here: Position Summary: This position manages the State Airport Development Program which ranges from planning and funding for airport and air navigation system projects, to management of all of the state’s land acquisitions, to land loan financing for airport and air navigation development. This position requires a high degree of aviation and airport knowledge. In addition, working alongside the Bureau Director this position creates improvements and procedures for section staff. Furthermore, this position manages a section of 6 staff. Additional responsibilities include: • Managing the financial work of the bureau’s accountant and financial specialists • Serve as primary contact for state and federal airport system planning matters • Direct airport system plan that guides future airport investment decisions • Propose legislation concerning airport land matters and the aviation program Special Notes: Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check with may include FBI fingerprinting. RELOCATION INCENTIVE: The Compensation Plan permits granting a one-time Relocation Incentive Award to employees who relocate as a result of promotion or transfer and expense reimbursement in any dollar increment up to an amount equal to 125% of the monthly minimum for this position in the pay plan. Moving expenses may also be awarded to the selected candidates. Qualifications: A minimally qualified applicant will have experience with transportation planning and policies (activities may include developing system plans, ensuring transportation policy compliance, knowledge of federal and state transportation laws, working with transportation finance and/or budget analysis), experience managing multiple programs concurrently (activities may include providing program goals, monitoring program success, identifying improvement opportunities, analyzing effectiveness of program, consulting with stakeholders, budget/revenue analysis, financing analysis, organizing/planning meetings/events, ensuring deadlines are met etc.) and experience leading a team of professional staff.
