The Opportunity: WSDOT Local Programs is seeking an experienced engineering professional to fill the vacancy of Project Development & Construction Trainer - Transportation Technical Engineer in Olympia, WA.
Local Programs assists communities in the successful delivery of transportation projects by providing educational, technical and financial support to cities, counties, and other transportation partners such as tribal governments, ports, and transit agencies.
The incumbent will be responsible for planning, developing and delivering technical coursework and material that address the educational needs, and priorities of the region staff, local agencies and consultants, designed to support the successful delivery of the federal-aid program. This position supports the agency mission to provide and support safe, reliable and cost effective transportation options to improve livable communities and economic vitality for people and business.

This position will perform the following work:
•Prioritize, plan, develop and deliver technical coursework and material that address the educational needs and priorities of region staff, local agencies and consultants designed to support the successful delivery of the federal-aid program.
•Conduct assessments to determine training needs, evaluate and measure the effectiveness of training based upon performance outcomes.
•Training efforts include coordinating with the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP).
•Support the project Development Engineer in HQ assisting in providing periodic updates to policy, direct project support and assembling and preparing any stewardship and oversight reports required through the Local Programs Stewardship and Oversight Agreement.
•Represent Local Programs on one or more coordinating committees.
An ideal candidate for this position will have:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related field.
Ability to effectively interpret technical material related to transportation engineering.
Knowledgeable in roadway project development design
gn, maintenance, pavement, construction and construction administration.
Ability to provide training to groups of 20 to 30 or more people.
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel overnight
