Region 1 Traffic Unit is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic on the state highway system by providing traffic engineering analysis and solutions to address hazardous situations and operational concerns. We are recruiting for a Traffic Design Lead to provide expert level advice and leadership for traffic control features design, analysis, and planning. This person will approve or recommend the installation of all traffic control devices that directly impact driver safety.

Duties & Responsibilities:
•Provide program management for regional planning studies, traffic design, and traffic analysis.
•Evaluate complex traffic engineering problems and propose solutions.
•Develop resourcing strategies for the regional traffic unit.
•Assign and review work to manage project schedules and budgets.
•Resolve traffic engineering conflicts.
•Review and manage consultant work product.
•Review and stamp plans and specifications.
•Direct and lead efforts for developing safe and efficient transportation systems.
•Recommend new design alternatives, congestion mitigations, and traffic control strategies.
•Approve and recommend changes to traffic control devices.
A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering and three (3) years of journey level professional engineer experience.
NOTE: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain comity within six months of hire.
Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
