Transportation Engineering Manager / Team Lead (7837)
Materials and Research Division NDDOT Hiring Range: $6,559 - $7,583 per month The candidate that is selected for this position may be granted moving allowance provisions in accordance with Human Resource Policy 14.4. Requires a bachelors degree in engineering or construction management; four years of professional-level engineering work experience; successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam; and Professional Engineer designation. Preferred Qualifications Two years of experience in geotechnical engineering. Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment. Supervision of the Geotechnical Section: This duty consists of supervision of three Transportation Engineers and the Soil Survey & Deep Foundation Field Crew. This duty is composed of the following tasks: 1. Provide work direction, task assignment and review of staff reports. 2. Evaluate staff and conduct performance reviews. 3. Supervise temporary staff from the Construction Pool or the Rotational Training Program as needed. 4. Review and approve work schedules, timesheets and leave requests. Approximately 40 percent of the time will be spent on this duty. Prepare Reports and Recommendations: This duty consists of preparation of reports to be used by the NDDOT and other agencies. This duty is composed of the following tasks: 1. Linear Soils Report and Recommendations, 2. Borrow Area Reports and Recommendations, 3. Settlement Analysis, 4. Slope Stability Reports, 5. Deep Foundation Reports. Approximately 30 percent of the time will be spent on this duty. Coordination and Guidance to Geotechnical Consultants: This duty consists of guidance and coordination on consultant geotechnical investigations and reports for NDDOT projects. This duty is composed of: 1. Review and Accept Scope and Fee, 2. Guidance and Assistance on surface investigation and sampling, 3. Review and Acceptance of geotechnical reports and recommendations. Approximately 15 percent of the time will be spent on this duty. Represent the Geotechnical Section in meetings with the NDDOT, Consultants and other agencies: This duty is consists of leading or participating in meetings regarding geotechnical aspects of projects. This duty is composed of: 1. Field Reviews, 2. Type, Size and Location Meetings, 3. Plan Reviews, 4. Public and Informational Meetings, 5. Other Meetings. Approximately 5 percent of the time will be spent on this duty. Coordination and Consultation with District and Field Personnel on problems encountered during construction: This duty is composed of assisting in development of solutions for problems encountered in the field. This duty is composed of: 1. Review of the project plans and construction procedures, 2. Evaluation of the soils and surrounding area, 3. Development of possible solutions. Approximately 5 percent of the time will be spent on this duty. Research and Design: This duty is composed of research and design as assigned. Approximately 5 percent of the time will be spent on this duty.
