Civil Engineering Manager 1- ITS Office
Civil Engineer Manager 1 TDOT Traffic Operations Division-Nashville, TN Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Office Salary: $82,896.00/year The Traffic Operations Division Civil Engineer Manager 1 will serve in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Office and is responsible for overseeing the ITS deployment of ITS projects. ITS is defined as an operational system of various technologies that, when combined and managed, improve the operating capabilities of the overall system. Examples of current technologies deployed in our system include: CCTV cameras, radar detection devices, dynamic message signs, highway advisory radios, and road weather information systems. Essential Job Duties: Duties include management of ITS projects for both in-house and consultant design projects: ensure system engineering analysis (SEA) documentation, construction plans, and special provisions are complete and submitted within established turn-in dates, ensure designs comply with federal, state, regional and local regulations; research latest technology and ITS industry standards to ensure TDOT design policies, standards, and procedures are current and up-to-date. Supervise other transportation engineers and assists the Traffic Operations Division Assistant Director. Must interact professionally with elected officials, federal, state, city, county, consultants, citizens, and other persons at all times. Preferred candidate will have previous project management experience; great leadership and organizational skills; an interest and/or willingness to become familiar with ITS device technology; and a working knowledge of MicroStation. Education and Experience Requirements: Experience equivalent to three years of full-time work managing and or supervising professional and technical civil engineering staff involved in survey, design, or construction of a roadway, runway, or transportation structure and current registration in active status with the State of Tennessee as a professional engineering in either civil engineering or structural engineering disciplines. Other Requirements: This position will require occasional statewide travel. Meetings will include but are not limited to national research panels, project meetings, field meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions as needed or directed.
