The Multimodal Planning Division's (MPD) Transportation Data GIS and Modeling Office (TDGMO) is seeking two entry level Transportation Planning Technician 1's for short term traffic studies done statewide by the TDGMO short count field crew. As a Transportation Planning Technician 1 in the Travel Data & Analysis Branch, the position reports directly to the Transportation Planning Specialist (TPS) 2, Field Supervisor. One position will be stationed out of Tumwater, WA, and the other out of Spokane, WA.
These positions are for individuals who like to work outside and be on the road collecting quality traffic data. This includes testing, installing, programming and validating data collection equipment and technologies. You'll be responsible for individual assignments and work as part of a team in traffic counting or speed monitoring involving high traffic volumes or complex traffic patterns. They will also work with a team of other Transportation Planning Technicians in performing other types of road inventories for traffic data studies.
