As a Senior Transportation Planner for the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), you will be seen as an expert on solving transportation planning issues that arise, and coordinating with many external partners in order to ensure that appropriate stakeholders are engaged, feedback is gathered, and input is integrated into MnDOT’s planning efforts. In this role, you will be called upon to implement new changes that ultimately improves the safety and mobility of our transportation system. Your willingness to innovate, and try new things will be put to work as you find creative solutions to MnDOT’s transportation planning challenges. Your work will be heavily collaborative in nature, and you will have the unique opportunity to work with many of MnDOT’s functional areas, as well as cities, counties, regional, and federal staff. Other duties will include:
•Coordinate the Metro District’s review of local government development plans adjacent to MnDOT right-of-way
•Leading and supporting multi-modal transportation plans and studies;
•Serving as a liaison between the Metro district and various multi-modal offices;
•Working with stakeholders and the public to respond to multi-modal transportation issues.
A Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Political Science or related field AND two (2) years of professional transportation or transit planning experience at the local, metropolitan or state level; OR three (3) years professional transportation planning experience at the local, metropolitan or state level.
