The selected applicant will report to the District Planning Coordinator and will perform the following duties.
Serves on the advisory committee and reviews documents for corridor studies, major investment studies and feasibility studies.
Acts as the District Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Coordinator by advising municipalities and other interested parties on the requirements for accommodations, attending planning meetings for bicycle and pedestrian facilities and coordinating facility planning activities to insure each facility fits into the overall bicycle and pedestrian plan and also complies with MassDOT Healthy Transportation Policy Directive P-13-0001.
Reviews right-of-way canvasses for conflicts between the property requested and any highway use foreseen and in the planning process.
Reviews and comments on environmental documents for private development that access or abut State Highway. Reviews permit applications for compliance to the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA).
Acts in a planning liaison capacity by reviewing Regional Planning Agencies’ certification documents, attending MPO meetings, reviewing MassDOT Advertising lists for TIP inconsistencies.
Reviews project initiation requests for completeness, appropriate funding category and regional significance as seen by the local planning agencies. Completes project initiation documentation including evaluations for projects deemed to be feasible and viable.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional or technical experience in urban planning, regional planning, land use planning or transportation planning, and (B) of which at least two years must have been in a professional capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
