Executive Transportation Leader of North Central Region

WSDOT is enthusiastically seeking a dynamic transportation executive with extraordinary, proven leadership skills to serve as the next North Central Regional Administrator based in Wenatchee, WA. With 300 days of sunshine and close proximity to the Puget Sound, year-round recreation and tourism are key attractions for the region (Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Okanogan, and portions of Adams, King, Kittitas, Skagit, and Franklin counties), drawing thousands of visitors annually to the majestic mountains, unique towns, fields and lakes. Combined with agriculture as a backbone of economic vitality throughout the area, these industries rely heavily on the North Central Region's transportation system, which includes seven mountain passes, 2,673 lane highway miles, 175 bridges, and access to an international border crossing, in order to remain operational and sustainable.

Internally, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the region's 300 employees, systematically fostering a work environment that promotes the agency's mission and strategic direction, while encouraging innovative performance, quality, to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain the transportation system. Externally, the incumbent must be an effective ambassador and spokesperson for the department on transportation matters, establish strong relationships with stakeholders to build coalitions, create constituent support, and influence public opinion on issues of vital importance locally and to the State of Washington.
