The Transportation Engineer maintains a direct confidential working relationship with the District Engineer and at times with the Deputy State Engineer and State Engineer to provide recommendations and advice on the progress of the district's highway construction program. Provides engineering and technical direction for the administration of highly complex construction contracts to ensure work performed provides a functional, durable project that meets design intent at a reasonable cost.
Supervises the work of technical level, non-supervisory staff involving highway construction; and coordinates programs, or projects, and represents the agency before the public, other governmental agencies, consultants and/or contractors; and acts as team leader of a professional staff.
Works under the general direction of the District Engineer. Exercises considerable and significant independent judgment within established program parameters, policies, and procedures. Supervises all personnel within the organization.
