Oregon Department of Transportation, Highway Division – Region 4
 
This position performs both senior inspector and junior designer tasks. As the senior inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring daily contract compliance on transportation projects. As the junior designer, you will complete designs of minor to semi-complex transportation projects using current design standards, policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying, or transportation-related engineering and one (1) year civil engineering or surveying experience.
OR
  • An associate's degree in engineering technology or surveying from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering and two (2) and one-half (1/2) years of engineering or surveying experience.

One (1) year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group.

OR
  • Four (4) years of *para-professional engineering or surveying experience.

One (1) year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group.

OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Para-professional engineering experience primarily includes performing drafting, inspection/surveying work, reviewing the work of lower level engineering specialists, and has not authority for authorizing changes.

Special Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid drivers' license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Attributes:

Your application will be graded based on the following preferred attributes. Applicants whose knowledge, experience and skills that most closely meet the attributes below will be invited to interview.
  • Experience with a demonstrated strong working knowledge of:
    • Mathematics (geometry, algebra and trigonometry).
    • Materials testing procedures.
    • Land surveying.
    • Highway construction methods and standards.
    • Road and construction procedures and practices.
