Assistant Finance Office Director
Assist the Director of Financial Management Office/Controller in managing agency wide financial operations so that budgeting, accounting, fiscal analysis, forecasting and financial reporting services are adequately provided to the agency.
Duties include providing oversight and management of the Safeguarding MnDOT Program, monitoring the agency’s use of financial resources for compliance with all applicable laws and policies; providing financial management of the highway construction program; biennial budget preparations, agency spend plans, revenues and fund balance forecasts, budgetary fund and financial statements, and distribution of state aid funds to counties and eligible cities; managing the payments of construction invoices and right of way purchases; submitting billings for federal reimbursements; and developing and maintaining agency financial accounting systems. Additional duties include managing the overall office budget and human resources needs of the office.
This position is also responsible for adhering to generally accepted accounting principles and maintaining appropriate financial records and controls to comply with state statutes and Minnesota Management and Budget’s policies and procedures.
Successful candidates will have three years managerial experience or four years advanced supervisory experience (or an equivalent combination) in demonstrated budgeting or financial leadership within a large organization.
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field may substitute for one year of experience.

• Demonstrated leadership developing, monitoring and deploying large complex budgets to an organization.
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, interpreting and communicating policy, procedure, and laws governing the activities related to execute operating, grant and program funds.
• Demonstrated fiscal leadership experience with large, complex budgets (e.g., multiple funds, various revenue streams, grants, revolving funds, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to identify complex challenges, research and recommend alternatives so that customers (internal or external) have comprehensive information sufficient enough to make decisions.
