Material Management System Team Leader (TEM-I)

The Maryland Department of Transportation's State Highway Administration (SHA) Office of Materials Technology (Hanover, MD) is recruiting for a MMS Team Leader (Transportation Engineer Manager I) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualification* listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy, and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification in Office of Materials Technology (Hanover, MD).
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in professional engineering.
Selective Qualification: Three and half (3.5) years of experience as a project manager performing approval of material sources and monthly materials clearance estimates.
*A selective qualification recruitment is conducted for positions when there is a specific or additional bona fide occupational qualification (i.e., knowledge, skill, or ability).

1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
2. Possession of a Master's Degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the non- supervisory experience. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a depth of knowledge of highway engineering and construction principles, material testing specifications and methods, software technologies, computer languages and database management philosophies.
Licenses & Certifications:
Possession of a vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.

The incumbent in this position may be a member of a covered bargaining unit and may be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
