Principal Executive/Manager C – Transportation Maintenance Manager

Bring your proven leadership skills as a transportation maintenance manager (TMM) in Baker City to manage the maintenance and basic operational activities associated with maintaining highways and related facilities, in both the Baker City and Richland maintenance stations. The TMM also participate as a member of the district and section teams and is assigned district-wide program management responsibilities in several functional areas.
  • This position reports to the Baker City maintenance office, 19775 OR-86, Baker City, OR 97814 with a maximum 30-minute response time for emergency call-outs.

This position is with the Department of Transportation, Highway Division, District 13 in Baker City. District 13 is responsible for all state highways, bridges and related features within the district boundaries and ensures the safe and efficient movement of traffic on the state highway system.

The successful candidate will become part of the state's management team.     

Per the state of Oregon Executive Order 17-07, this position is exempt from the hiring freeze.  
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five years of experience in supervision, staff-technical, or professional-level work related to highway/roadway maintenance, construction, or operations.
  • One year of this experience must have included supervision and management of a program, section, or unit which included one or more of the following areas:
  • a) development of program rules and policies
  • b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans
  • c) program evaluation or
  • d) budget preparation.
OR
  • Five years of experience in supervision, staff-technical, or professional-level work related to highway/roadway maintenance, construction, or operations.
  • One year of this experience must have included program/project leader responsibility involving one or more of the following areas:
    • a) development of program rules and policies
    • b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans
    • c) program evaluation and/or project evaluation
    • d) monitoring and controlling or preparing a budget.
 
NOTE: A bachelor's degree or equivalent course work (144 quarter or 96 semester hours) in a field related to management, such as business or public administration, or a field related to the program of the employing agency, may be substituted for three years of the required experience, but will not substitute for the one year of specialized experience.

Special Qualifications
  • This position reports to the Baker City maintenance office, 19775 OR-86, Baker City, OR 97814 with a maximum 30-minute response time for emergency call-outs.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position; you must possess and maintain a current, valid commercial driver license A (CDL-A) with a tank endorsement. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
