The City of Portland is seeking an Automotive Equipment Operator II-Street Sweeper in the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT). This position requires skilled work operating a 3-4 wheeled street sweeper including between and/or around obstacles while maintaining maximum curb contact. The position must perform both left and right sweeping, sweeping streets with curb cuts effectively, sweeping with the street paving group in and out of milled streets, as well as operating large trucks with auxiliary snowplows. The Automotive Equipment Operator II-Street Sweeper performs pre and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle, minor servicing, adjustment and repair of equipment operated, maintains tools and performs sandblasting and pressure washing. This position involves reading and following maps to analyze routes to determine the most efficient and safest circuit.

Work is often done in heavy traffic, may be either day or night shift, may require working on Saturday or Sunday, holidays, emergencies, or under extreme snow and ice conditions. This position, like all positions at the Maintenance Operations Group, is considered an essential position during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergencies. It is expected of this position to report to work as soon as possible to help ensure the essential operations of the City's transportation infrastructure.

There are currently two vacancies; one in Night Operations, and one in Street Maintenance. The Night Operations work schedule is Sunday-Thursday 21:00-05:30.
