The senior inspector is a member of a field engineering crew preforming contract administration, design and inspection engineering work, and construction and maintenance projects.
This position is responsible for ensuring daily contract compliance, contract administration and contractor documentation by directing the activities of field personnel. This position will act as lead inspector/coordinator on multi-disciplined highway construction projects.

Additional Details
  • This position is represented by the Association of Engineering Employees of Oregon (AEE).
  • This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end on or before September 30, 2019. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service.
  • The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at a Civil Engineering Specialist 1 level. However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for an Engineering Specialist 3 ($3624 - $5352) to apply, as we may consider under-filling the position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for a Civil Engineering Specialist 1.
  • This position is currently included in a statewide classification study. The classification and salary are subject to change.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying, or transportation-related engineering AND 
  • One (1) year civil engineering or surveying experience.

    OR
     
  • An associate's degree in engineering technology or surveying from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering AND 
  • Two (2) and one-half (1/2) years of engineering or surveying experience.
One (1) year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group.

OR
  • Four (4) years of *para-professional engineering or surveying experience.
One (1) year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group.

OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Para-professional engineering experience primarily includes performing drafting, inspection/surveying work, reviewing the work of lower level engineering specialists, and has not authority for authorizing changes.
 
Underfill Qualifications
  • An associate's degree in engineering technology from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering AND
  • Four (4) years of experience directly related to engineering.

    OR
  • Five (5) and one-half years (66 months) of sub-professional engineering experience.

    OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Special Qualifications
 
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers' license and acceptable driving record.
 
Preferred Attributes
 
Your application will be graded based on the following preferred attributes. Applicants whose knowledge, experience and skills that most closely meet the attributes below will be invited to interview.
  • Proven knowledge and skills in project inspection, material testing, quality control/compliance, or contract administration.
  • Strong organization skills, ability to work with others, and ability to adapt to changing technology.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics and highway construction procedures and practices.
  • Skill in reading, interpreting and applying technical manuals specifications, contract plans and other guides.
  • Ability to obtain inspection certifications.
